Sometimes it seems that the only thing that grows easily in New Mexico are the weeds. Native weed species are well adapted to minimal water and compete with desirable plants for water and nutrients in the soil. Landscape ornamentals will prosper by the elimination of competing weeds. They're unsightly and most municipalities have ordinances regarding weed clean up. Businesses may give the impression they're closed or business is sluggish if the parking lot or building is surrounded by weeds.
